Dragonforce in Singapore 12/4/09

Suddenly, FREE VVIP PASSES! Well, that was what happened. A simple day that I planned to go to Ikea to get some cheap batteries changed to an awesome night of metal music. Firstly, I wanna say that Dragonforce puts up a damn good show. The shenadigans on stage were plenty and non-stop. Face twitches, hip thrusts, Herman Ri's flying guitar kick or whatever he calls it, Vadim's crazy jumping...all in all, it was a very crazy show.

I am in no way a huge Dragonforce fan, yeah...so you hardcore Dragonforce fans might hate me for this. But it was my luck, and after watching them live, I am quite interested in listening to this "Game" Metal band.

Well, I'll try to recall the time of each thing happening.

4.45pm - 5.30pm.
Waited for the passes and waited for the band to come so that we can have a meet and greet session. The meet and greet was too formal and boring, but Vadim and Sam were nice guys.

6pm-7pm.
After looking at people getting their guitar hero guitars and REAL guitars signed by Dragonforce, we needed to wait again and I bought myself one of the tour T-shirts. I was unsure if I wanted to get it or not. But hey, it's not like they come everyday, so I just bought it. Soft cotton material, at least I have one more black T-shirt to wear when I go out.

7pm+.
We were allowed to go into D'Marquee.

8pm+.
Bhelliom performed and I have only good praises for this band. Overwhelming, bone crushing riffs, double pedalpalooza...bla bla bla, they were fucking metal. Threw beers and shit into the crowd. I'm definitely gonna buy their album when I go to HMV.

So after Bhelliom performed, Dragonforce came up after a 15-30 minute rockstar delay. As expected, but when they came on stage, the music came going and going and going.

The crowd was alright at first, but they got rowdier later into the show, however, I think the security are bigger assholes than the crowd. The barrier was getting pushed forward cause it's freaking lame. It's those yellow barriers that you can usually see at the bus interchange. Beer and water was flung into the crowd, squirted into the crowd. I copped a feel of Fred he came down after the show.

I had chances to get picks...but I didn't get them cause I was holding on to a stupid plastic bag with my camera inside and my t-shirt (I changed into the tour t-shirt after I bought it).

After the show, I had a strained neck, drenched in beer and water. And lost my voice. Definitely an awesome band to watch live and to hear the rest of the fans singing along to songs I have no idea of...it was quite an experience. And to be a VVIP to the show, hey...I do agree that I was very lucky.

I don't know what to write anymore actually...so yeah. Time for blurred photos of the whole experience. Oh yeah, and the sound was great! Better than the whole buzzing due to the speakers being right in front of my face during Black Sabbath.

Oh yeah, the asshole security didn't allow photos to be taken after the first song from Dragonforce on stage. Herman Ri was quite a quiet fella too. And I was supposed to get a free backstage tour (which I was really excited for cause I wanted to see their equipment). But heck...didn't happen.
