After 3 albums, Audioslave disbands.
Chris Cornell announced he was leaving Audioslave due to "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences" on Thursday, February 15th.
There were several signs that I realised before Audioslave's demise: Audioslave not going on tour in support of Revelations, Cornell promoting the album without the band, Cornell deciding to release a solo record, and Rage Against The Machine reuniting for Coachella. So many, but I was hopeful that the band would be around a while more and maybe produce a better album,Revelations,as much as a good album as it was..it did lack the intensity of the rest of the songs from the previous two albums. It was just too campy with a few "oohs" and "aahs".

Thus, another great band is dissolved. It happens far too often nowadays... Even with RATM reuniting for Coachella 07,I just don't think that they will work on new material although it would be absolutely incredible to see them do the opposite.
Zach's voice just doesn't cut it for me, not because it's whiny and he's rapping, but just that it doesn't possess the sentimental, emotional value of a proper singer's voice. The only reason I actually REALLY listen to RATM is because of the other three members of the band and the occasional inclusion of Maynard. I hope there'll be another "Know Your Enemy" duet.
Deeply saddened by the fact of Audioslave disbanding, this was one band that made a huge impact on me and really set to where I want to head in music. There are definitely other bands, but Audioslave was definitely one of the FIRST.
The band may be gone, but the music lives on.It's better to burn out than to fade out too, imagine if they continued and made crappy campy rock songs.

Now,I'm just left with TOOL and another five years to wait for another album. They would probably release an album in winter 2012 and the world would end...that would probably be the best excuse for them to retire.
